The North America Nakba Tour is in Trouble

We are more than halfway through this year’s Nakba Tour, and it has been wildly popular, to the extent that we have not been able to honor all requests in all parts of the country, and in one case only via live streaming. 89-year-old Mariam Fathalla (Umm Akram) and 25-year-old Amena Elashkar have brought their powerful stories to audiences in the mid-Atlantic and midwest states, and spread awareness about the experience and views of millions of Palestinian refugees that the state of Israel forces to live outside Palestine.

That is not the problem.

As in previous years, there have been one or two cases where the Zionist influence has resulted in initial interest being retracted.  But this year we overcame such obstacles even more successfully than in previous years, which demonstrates an increasing receptivity to the message of these two amazing women.

That also is not the problem.

The problem is that despite generous donations from some of you, we are running a deficit of $10-15K for the project.  We may even have to sell our Nakbavan, the faithful and reliable vehicle that has provided comfortable and safe transportation for the brave women and our brilliant and resourceful field coordinator, Samir Salem, along more than 20,000 miles in North America.   To have to sell it would be the ultimate irony, because during the 2016 Nakbatour we were able to raise enough to repay the $20K that we borrowed to buy the vehicle in the first place.

We very much hope that we can find a way to keep the Nakba Tour going.   As we announced from the beginning, our costs work out to roughly $1500 per event, but we ask only $500 minimum because we know that, in many places, $500 is the most that they can afford.  The rest has to be raised through donations.

We have faith in you.  You have done it before, and we believe that you can do it again. Please help us raise the funds to keep going, and hopefully continue the Nakba Tour until Palestine is free and all Palestinians can return to their homes.
